For over twenty years The Chemical Brothers have redefined the idea of live electronic music. In that time, their live show has evolved from humble beginnings in dank London nightclubs into one of the most in demand festival headline sets in the world. All the while, it has adhered to the same basic idea: that the gig should create its own transcendent audio/visual space where the audience can lose themselves for the duration of the set.
The Chemical Brothers ongoing relationship with director and visual artist Adam Smith continues to produce hallucinogenic results across the globe, as seen in 2012’s collaborative concert film Don’t Think.

"Paused in Cosmic Reflection" is the definitive story of The Chemical Brothers by Robin Turner, told in the voices of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons.
A kaleidoscopic history of the band and the intoxicating world they have created in their own words, with contributions from intimate friends and collaborators including Beck, Wayne Coyne, Noel Gallagher, Steve Dub, Adam Smith (the architect of their hallucinogenic live shows alongside Marcus Lyall), designer Kate Gibb and many other voices. The book is fully illustrated with photography and design work from The Chemical Brothers’ archives and has been designed by Paul Kelly (Fender: The Golden Age), with a bespoke cover designed by Kate Gibb.
Still available in two editions:
• Standard Hardback Edition: also available as an eBook and audio download
• Record Store Exclusive Edition: limited to 1500 copies - housed in a bespoke slipcase, with alternate colourway and ribbon marker, plus a Kate Gibb risograph art print.
U.S. edition released in May 2024.
